Classroom Happenings

Zion at the State Fair!

On Thursday, September 2, the second through fifth grade classes of Zion Lutheran School took part in the Nebraska State Fair’s special day for schools: State’s Largest Classroom.  Students from all over the state of Nebraska attended the fair at its new site in Grand Island.  The Kearney Hub caught some of our students at one of the exhibitions at the fair.  Click the link below to read!

Great Events!

Back-to-School Time!

It’s been a fast, hot summer and it is now time for students to start school!  The staff at Zion has been busy preparing for the return of students and we look forward to another great year.  Help us kick off our 80th year with a back-to-school BBQ!  The BBQ will be held at Zion on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 6:00pm.  The board of ed is providing hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drink, and sno-cones!  Come join the fun and meet fellow classmates and parents.

Dress Code Updates (K-8 only!)

Several people have called in with legitimate questions about the dress code and thereby revealed some mistakes that were missed.  You will want to note that denim-like material for pants/shorts will be acceptable.  I believe that the intent was to make it clear that “blue jeans” and “denim” were not used interchangeably.  Blue or black denim will not be allowed, but if pants are khaki-colored and made of a material similar to denim, those will be allowed.  Also note that students will be allowed to leave their polos untucked.  This was a concern for younger students especially.  Tucking is encouraged, but not mandated.

Thank you for your patience as we work out the kinks and bugs of the new dress code!  Please find attached a revised copy of the dress code.
